Water Polo
PLC Sydney offers students two Water Polo competitions to participate in: IPSHA and IGSA competitions. More information below.
Please note:
IPSHA Water Polo is for Years 5 & 6 only.
IGSA Water Polo is for Years 7 to 12.
Junior School (IPSHA) Overview
Membership: Year 5 and Year 6 ( Water Polo only) via tryouts
Cost: $130, this amount will be billed to students’ school fees account.
When: Term 1
Trials: Saturday 5 February 7:30am - 9:00 am at PLC Sydney
Training:
3:30 pm - 4:45 pm on Fridays at Ashfield Pool. Students walk to and from the pool with a Sports Coordinator and the Water Polo coaches and may be picked up outside the pool at 4:45 pm or from the roundabout at 5:00 pm.
Game Days: Draws will be available via the IPSHA app
Saturdays for 1-2 hours between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm, various venues around Sydney, own transport arrangements are to be made and carpooling is a great idea
Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to game start time
Sign in via team sheet, at convenors desk, up on arrival. To be eligible to play semis/finals, students must have played at least three games (signed on).

Uniform: Available at the Glencourse Uniform Shop
PLC Sydney Swimming Costume (water polo costume is optional)
PLC Sydney PE Uniform
PLC Sydney swimming cap (Water Polo playing caps are provided)
No jewellery is to be worn

Goggles
Mouth guard (highly recommended)

Senior School (IGSA) Overview
Membership: Years 7–12 via tryouts
Cost: $210, this amount will be billed to students’ school fees account.
When: Term 1 & 4
Trials: Saturday 5 February 9:00 am - 10:30 am or 10:30 am - 12:00 pm (students will be advised prior to the date which timeslot they need to attend.)
Training: One weekday before or after school
Game Days: Draws will be available via the Spawtz website
Saturdays, 1-1.5 hours between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm, various venues around Sydney, own transport arrangements are to be made and carpooling is a great idea
If a Frensham team is in your draw, you will have only one weekend where you will be required to travel to Mittagong. Any Frensham team who makes the semi-finals or final will travel to Sydney for these.
Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the game start time (top teams might be communicated an earlier warm-up time)

Please note:
Students who nominate to play Water Polo must be confident and competent in the water.
Please be aware that a swimming test (approx 200m) and a tread water test (approx 90secs) will form part of the trials process.
