PLC Sydney has a long and successful tradition of Hockey participation across the greater Sydney region, competing in both IPSHA and IGSA competitions. Over the past 10 years, our top Year 7–12 teams have established PLC Sydney as one of the most successful schools within the NSW Independent Girls’ Schools Association (IGSA).
All girls, regardless of their starting level, are given opportunities to train under our experienced coaching staff. Those who reach a high level for their age group may be invited to trial for our representative pathway. Notably, two students in recent years have been selected for the Australian U16 Schoolgirls team, with one progressing to compete for the Australian Hockeyroos.
Junior Hockey (Years 3–6)
Minkey (Years 3–5): A 6-a-side game on ¼ of a full-size hockey field. Years 3 and 4 players push the ball only, while Year 5 players may use a controlled slap.
Super 8 Hockey (Year 6): An 8-a-side game on ½ of a full-size hockey field.
These modified games give younger players more “time on the ball” to develop their skills and understanding of the game.
Coaching Staff
Michael Nobbs – Head Hockey Coach; former International/Olympic Hockey player and coach.
Stephan Madycki – PDHPE Teacher; former Australian Indoor Goalie.
Tegan Neowhouse – Ex-student; current Australian Women’s Hockey 5s and Indoor player.
We look forward to inspiring new Hockey players at PLC Sydney.
