PUBLIC SPEAKING & DEBATING
Debating
Through Debating, students are able to improve their public speaking skills, gain more confidence, meet new people, be part of a team and develop their analytical skills.
Senior School debaters have the opportunity to represent the College in three external competitions. Major competitions include Archdale Debating Competition, ISDA Debating Competition, Archdale Virtual Debating (online) and the University of Sydney Debating Tournament. The Year 7 Archdale and ISDA teams are selected very early in the year.
Debating is introduced in the Junior School in Years 5 and 6. Year 5 debaters start off developing their skills in class debating and House Debating. In Year 6, students train to compete in both ISDA and IPSHA interschool debating.
